Recruitment agency vs collaborative platform

Traditional agency or a collaborative platform of recruiters: same expected results, but a different cost/risk balance. An honest comparison to help you choose.

The traditional agency model

An agency assigns you a consultant who works your role, often on an exclusive basis, in exchange for fees set as a percentage of salary. The service is structured, but the cost is fixed and speed depends on a single person.

The collaborative model (marketplace)

A collaborative platform opens your role to a collective of independent, specialist recruiters. Several can take an interest, you don't depend on one consultant, and you only pay on success.

What changes in practice

  • Cost: fixed and often upfront with an agency, on success with a platform
  • Choice: an assigned consultant vs specialist recruiters who opt in
  • Transparency: you set your recruitment budget
  • Risk: retention guarantee, payment triggered afterwards

Which one to choose?

For a very rare profile or a deep confidential search, a dedicated agency still makes sense. For most hires, the collaborative model offers the same level of expertise with the financial risk reversed: you only pay if it works.
